Tuesday afternoon's tide at 16:45 07/01/2025 is forecast to be 34 cm lower (2.48 mAOD). Each tide will then be lower for the following five days. Water may pond in Climping Street Car Park and on Mill Lane. Waves overtopping the sea front could potentially direct water along Mill Lane (from the right of the east car park) towards properties on Climping Street. Wednesday morning's tide at 01:45 08/12/2021 is similar, but accompanied by very large waves. We expect more water to collect on land and in fields. We continue to monitor the forecast. We recycled shingle in November and routinely check the condition of the beach at Climping. Shingle and debris can be thrown by large waves. Strong winds will continue until Sunday, but minimal flood impacts are expected as Saturday evening's tide should be 25 cm lower than in the morning. We continue to monitor the forecast. If the waves are a little larger than currently forecast, a small amount of water may then flow westwards along Mill Lane (from the right of the East car park) towards residential property in Climping Street. After this tide‚ no further impacts are expected. Monday's tides are forecast to be at least 30cm lower and accompanied with lighter winds and smaller waves. We continue to monitor the forecast. Strong South Westerly Force 5 to 6 winds will continue throughout Tuesday (02/02/2021), before easing on Wednesday (03/02/2021). Wave heights are still large and will increase on Tuesday evening, before decreasing on Thursday (04/02/2021). Shingle will still be moved and wave spray will affect sea front areas, particularly over the high tide periods (which are 14:30 on 02/02/2021, 03:00 and 15:15 on 03/02/2021). Small amounts of water may still potentially affect nearby fields, roads and beach top properties. However, the waves are not expected to run up the beach quite as much as they did on Monday. Please take care if visiting the sea front between Tuesday and Thursday. Large waves are very powerful and can contain hidden dangers such as flying debris. For two hours either side of Monday night's high water, impacts are expected to be similar again, and there is a risk of property flooding on Climping Street. Ferry Road may also be impassable from 23:00. Although Tuesday lunchtime's tide is marginally smaller, there will still be a risk of further flooding. Large waves, high tides and the risk of flooding will persist until at least Thursday 13/02/2020. We are working with emergency partners to provide further assistance.
